After Your Visit
While your mouth remains numb, please be mindful of your lips, cheeks, and tongue to prevent accidental biting. Avoid hard or crunchy foods until the numbness has completely worn off. We recommend soft foods or smoothies during this time, and as always, please brush gently afterward.
It is common to experience mild soreness in the gums, cheeks, or jaw following treatment. If your gums feel tender, rinse with warm salt water to promote comfort and healing.
-
Mix 1 teaspoon of salt into an 8 oz glass of warm water and gently swish small amounts until the glass is finished. Repeat several times daily for the first few days, and discontinue once symptoms improve.
For discomfort, you may take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed on the label. If appropriate for you, ibuprofen is often more effective for dental inflammation than acetaminophen alone.
Some mild sensitivity to cold foods or beverages is normal for several days or even weeks following treatment. However, if sensitivity worsens or you experience pain when biting, please contact our office so we may evaluate the area.
If you have any questions or concerns, we are always here for you.
